Runescape

Runescape is a pretty popular game and it’s around for quite a few years  (it was released in 2001). It’s a 3d java based MMORPG set in the fantasy world named Gielinor . The controls are the classic point and click and the view is isometric. Many say this is the best browser based MMO out there and I don’t blame them, the numbers speak for themselves; over 10 million active accounts. It is recognize by the Guinness World Records as the most popular free MMORPG.

The Internet is full of free stuff, like game toplists,  casino toplists, or movie toplists and sometimes is hard to see which ones are worth your time. Today is time for the free MMORPG’s out there. I’ll make a list, not in a particular order, with the ones that worth your precious time. The list will be updated from time to time, so I wait for your comments with new suggestions.

Title:Runes of Magic
Website: Visit
If you played WoW this game will seem very familiar…but this isn’t a bad thing. The game has many new features to make it interesting…and the best part is that it is free. Currently the game is in open beta stage and already is fantastic. This only means is only room for improvement. In the first day of open beta 190.000 players joined the world of Taborea…this says a lot.

Title:9 Dragons
Website: Visit
This game is more for hardcore players then casual ones. It has a lot to offer if you give it a chance and you don’t uninstall it after the first hour of play. The game is about martial arts,it takes place in ancient China during the Ming dynasty the 9 Dragons era. It gathers many chines myths and legends so you could say it has a seed of truth in it. It’s more about the art in martial arts then the violent part like most games. Your goal is to become immortal, but not necessarily through blood and through meditation as well, so you have to learn something about the eastern philosophy so the game will make some sense. It has lots of minuses too, like the simple old looking graphics and animation or the control. It’s up to you to decide if is worth your time or not. Read more

Eating in the World … of Warcraft !

The doors of a World of Warcraft restaurant have opened in Beijing China. The interior is totally inspired by Blizzard’s MMO, the walls and ceilings being littered with artwork from the game, plasma screens dispay clips from WoW, and even the entrance is designed as a real-life recreation of the game’s opening screen.

The menu selection is named after characters from the game and the dinning room is called Hall of Snow Storms. Nice !

The owner of the restaurant created the restaurant in the hope that people who share his passion for the MMO would find a “comfortable gathering place”.

After NcSoft announced that Tabula Rasa is on its death bed, today they’ve launched this new MMO in Korea. I’m not a big NcSoft fan but I hope Aion will have success and will not die young like Tabula Rasa. They broke some records in the open beta…over 230.000 people tested it; that can be a good sign. The game will be launched in the first quarter of 2009 in USA and Europe. Till you have a chance playing check out this cool wallpapers.

It’s sad when this happens in the MMO World. After Richard Garriott left Tabula Rasa last week to pursue “new interests.” , Tabula Rasa is leaving us. This is what they say on the official site ” So it is with regret that we must announce that Tabula Rasa will end live service on February 28, 2009. “

A little while ago, EA’s CEO John Riccitiello confirmed that they are working at a KotOR inspired MMO.Who’s on the team? None others than LucasArts and BioWare (KotOR’s “mom and dad”).The interesting part is that this new MMO might be coming out very soon. There are no official sources, yet, but the rumour is that on the 21st of october, an announcement will be made regarding the release date.
