The series’ former tagline, “Tactical Espionage Action,” has been replaced by “Lightning Bolt Action” to fit the protagonist, Raiden; the word raiden is Japanese for “thunder and lightning.” Rising is an interquel set between the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
