Blizzard kept it’s word and launched the new and improved version of Battle.net .From now on you will only need one account, to manage all your Blizzard games, including World of Warcraft.

Right now you can’t use many of the functions of this new account, for the simple reason that the games that use it are not out yet. The current versions of Diablo, StarCraft and Warcraft will continue to use the old Battle.net .

But there are benefits of using the new Battle.net account you can take advantage of, right now like registering your Blizzard games, and once registered you can download those games for free. There is also an option to register for beta-tests for new Blizzard games. Who knows ? maybe you’ll get invited to test the new Diablo 3 or StarCraft 2.

It seems that Mythic’s MMO isn’t doing that well. They recently closed down 43 servers, which confirms the fall of Warhammer’s popularity. Mythic strikes back with the relaunch of the 10 day free trial and with major rewards for the players who decide to reactivate they’re accounts like massive experience bonus, 10 free days and special quests. Let’s see if they will succeed.

Mythic Entertainment has sounded the Call to Arms and is calling on seasoned veterans to re-enlist and return to the ongoing Realm War in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR). Experienced fighters in North America and Asia Pacific who re-activate their game accounts will receive an Emperor’s welcome, complete with all the rested experience they’ve accumulated while absent, a special quest chain with exciting in-game rewards, and 10 free days of game time to discover why WAR is even better than ever!

The top 20 selling PC games for february

Here are the top 20 selling PC games for february according to NPD Group:

1. World Of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
2. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe
3. Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II
4. World Of Warcraft: Battle Chest
5. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
6. Spore
7. World Of Warcraft
8. The Sims 2 Apartment Life
9. Fallout 3
10. World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade
11. Call Of Duty: World At War
12. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
13. Left 4 Dead
14. The Sims 2 Deluxe
15. Civilization IV
16. The Sims 2 Mansion & Garden Stuff
17. StarCraft Battle Chest
18. Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack
19. Diablo Battle Chest
20. The Sims 2 Pets Exp.

It is nice to see Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II and F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin up in the rankings but it’s surprising for me that more of half the positions are occupied by Blizzard and The Sims 2. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of all blizz games and Sims 2 was a good game FOR IT’S TIME but I would have liked more new titles with bigger sales. Maybe the golden age of PC Games is long gone if Diablo and Starcraft are still selling this good.
NPD’s charts don’t include the sale of games over services such as Steam and Direct2Drive. Maybe the situation would be different if they did.
